Q.Unlock Carrier Zain on iOS 5.0.1
Carrier: Zain (Bahrain) iPhone 4S, A colleague of mine bought what was suppsoedly a locked phone from an operator (ZAIN) in Bahrain. We tried to put in another SIM from another carrier. It does not work. Also, the APN settings in Network do not show.
We backed it up, restored it to it’s originally FW 5.0.1. Now, we tried to put in a SIM from another carrier, it worked! Calls can be made, APN settings are showing. We put back the official carrier SIM, the APN settings disappeared but everything else works.
This des not look like a real carrier lock, does it? Not that we are complaining, we are just baffled but the supposedly locked ip4S.
Has anyone experienced such ‘carrier lock’ on an iPhone 4S?
Maybe some owners can do the same with their locked ip4S. I am quite certain this will NOT work on US carrier locks like AT&T and Verizon.
